CBD V CBG
CBD V CBG
- CBD has a relatively low affinity for Cannabinoid receptors and acts mostly through indirect interactions with the Endocannabinoid system, CBG is thought to elicit its therapeutic effects directly through interaction with the CB1 + CB2 Cannabinoid receptors in the brain.
- CBG is similar to CBD in terms of its health effects, but some research indicates that it may be a lot more potent. Unlike CBD, CBG has an extremely strong connection with the Endocannabinoid receptors, enabling it to not only combat most of the ailments treated by CBD but also the list of attributes mentioned above, with a higher chance of success.
CBG & CBD Together?
When taken on their own (isolated), each Cannabinoid has its own beneficial properties, and although many of them overlap CBD and CBG are taken together the benefits of both are amplified and last longer. They can sometimes work together to balance each other out, for example, CBD alone can cause drowsiness and see CBG alone can have an energising effect but combining the two leaves the consumer with a more balance an enhanced experience.
As mentioned, CBD and CBG can help with a lot of the same conditions both physically and mentally, but the general perception is that CBD can assist more with the physical elements, while CBG covers mental and neurological health issues. However, this is a general perception, and everyone is different; what may work for one person, may not work for someone else, but by taking a blend/ hybrid, it can be a good way to ensure you are attaining the maximum benefits that both these fantastic cannabinoids provide.
*Our body makes its own cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) and has been doing so for over 600 million years. The two main Endocannabinoids are Anandamide and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG)
CBG Conclusion
- CBG cost is quickly dropping, as CBG rich strains are now being produced more frequently, pushing research, and improving chances of helping more people
- Together, CBD and CBG make a powerful team against inflammation, mental health issues, physical pain, insomnia and much more. Together they may be exactly what your body needs to reach and maintain optimal wellness.
Despite being the ‘mother’, people have often overlooked CBG in favour of THC and CBD, mainly because it is relatively unknown in comparison, (and costing around six times the price, does not help its cause!). Research is showing us the wonderful benefits of these two combined, however CBG research alone is in its infancy stage. Amongst animal models (mice and rats) it has been proven somewhat of a miracle drug, successfully treating serious conditions such as Cancer, Huntington's disease, and Parkinson's. All we can do now is help to promote this new cannabinoid and hope it will not be long until human clinical trials start with CBG.
